Using Older PLR - The eBook Update

The last post was about updating the sales page for older PLR products. But what about the PLR ebook or other product that the sales page is selling? Does that need to be updated as well?
It depends. If the PLR product or PLR ebook is in a field that is “technological”, for example iPods or cell phones, then yes. You’ll have to completely update the ebook. Electronic technology changes rapidly and even something only a year or so old will need to have some revising done. The good thing is that a lot of the history and research IS still good. You will only have to update those parts that have to do with the area since the ebook was written. If you like the format that the original is written in - all the better.
If the ebook is in say the parenting niche, then you will have to do less rewriting and editing. For best results, you will still want to rename the product and create new graphics to go along with the package. You will want to rewrite in so far as putting your own view of the subject matter into the ebook and rearranging the content to fit your style. I always suggest at least a 50% rewrite - but hold on! It’s NOT as hard as it may seem at first glance. The research is still there - just add updated links, a new vision and YOUR style! No more than a days work and you’ll have a completely new product. Parenting is parenting. Same now as it was 5 or even more years ago.
Internet marketing: Internet marketing is another field that is constantly changing - but not like electronics. Consider this: 5 years ago, internet marketers used keywords to get in the search engines. And Today? Why Keywords, of course! STILL Keywords! So, while you may want to revise this area - it’s still keywords that you are having your readers research. The tools and methodology may have changed somewhat, but the CONCEPT is still the same. So take that old PLR ebook about “Magical Keyword Research To Make Thousands In 24 Hours” and rewrite it into something that fits today’s style of keyword research. Just think of all those potential affiliate links for that subject alone!
My point is that almost ANY subject matter can be rewritten into a fresh and new format using older PLR. Many of us are NOT writers and having these PLR ebooks as reference guides and formatting examples can make a huge difference in the quest to create our own products - and make an income online.
